We need a small team of volunteers to look after the three new planters and the wild flower strips that Rugby Borough Council put down last year. The planters just need a little tending and weeding, and the wild flower strips need weeding to allow the wild flowers to flourish, rather than get overgrown with thistles and brambles.

This would be great for people who are interested in gardenng and want to add some experience to their knowledge, or for people who are active in retirement, or anyone else who wants to take an active interest in Cawston.

You may have noticed that the Cawston Grange Consortium have started works on Gerard Road.  This will be the shops in the Commercial Area.  Initial works will include stripping the topsoil, then laying drainage followed by constructing the roadway into the shops.  Services such as electricity, gas, water and BT will then be taken into the site as construction starts on the buildings.  On speaking to the site engineer he suggested that the shops would be completed in about 26 weeks and the anchor store will be a small supermarket.  Having our own local shops will be much more convenient when popping out for the items of forgoten shopping or topping up on the essentials and should also cut down on the extra car journeys and fuel costs.

We had a fantastic day at the first Cawston Fun Run on 30th October 2011 to raise money for our Community Hall.
