Parish Councillor Vacancies

Cawston Parish Council has vacancies for 2 Parish Councillors. Check out the details below to see how you can get involved in shaping the local community.

What Do Councillors Do?

Parish Councillors represent residents in making decisions about which activities to support, where money is to be spent, what services should be delivered and what policies should be implemented.

You would need to be able to attend our monthly meeting, usually held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month with a few extra hours to spare during the month. A few hours a month could make a big difference to your community.

Councillors are currently involved in finance, events and projects, social media, public safety, parks and open spaces and planning. It is a rewarding and responsible role – you can learn new things, gain experience and help to foster a sense of community spirit.

Do You Need Experience?

No! Just enthusiasm and a desire to help your local community. You can get free training. There is a trained Clerk and a Facilities and Communication Manager who deliver Parish services and complete all the administration.

Who Can Be A Parish Councillor?

Cawston Parish Council is not party-political. Nominations are welcomed and valued from any member of the community. Most people can become a Parish Councillor. Please consider joining the Council if you are:

• a British, Commonwealth or EU citizen

• over 18

• live or work in or near Cawston
